About

My name is Augustin Winther. I’m a 24-year-old computer nerd from Western Norway, studying physics at the University of Bergen. 

I started my physics bachelor in August of 2022. I’ve had a passion for physics for as long as I can remember. Everything regarding our understanding of nature, from the tiniest quarks to the largest galaxies, are subjects I will never grow tired of.  

I’ve also developed a strong affection for mathematics and programming in recent years, and thus I spend a decent amount of my spare time trying to prove conjectures I come up with, or create diverse programs and scripts.

Physics bachelor
University of Bergen (2022 – present) 
Pursuing my passion for physics, math and programming. 

Science and mathematics
Firda High School (2020 – 2022) 
I prepared myself for future studies by diving deep into physics and math while also completing required subjects for entry to university. 

Computers and electronics
Eid High School (2016 – 2019) 
Before I went the path of scientific subjects, I did vocational studies within the world of electronics. I learned a lot about electrical installations, automation, electrical circuits and computers.

Experience

Student assistant / Consultant
University of Bergen (2023 – present) 
I tutored Python in the university’s introductory programming course in the fall of 2023, and now I’m working as a consultant on the university’s new project of introducing more programming into the physics courses.

Math tutor
Firda High School (2021 – 2022) 
Mainly helping students with algebra, calculus, and programming. It was a rewarding experience trying to spark joy around scientific subjects! 

Manager
KodeKit UB (2018 – 2019) 
As manager for a youth company, I learned about leadership, responsibility, PR, production, and R&D.

Skills

Language 
I communicate in both English and Norwegian fluently. 

Programming 
I spend most of my time with Python, but I also program in Bash when working with Linux, and C when programming microchips, mainly ATmega328 (Arduino Uno) 

Physics and math 
I really enjoy working with the two subjects, and I have a good comprehension of them both. 

Personal Qualities

Tidy 
I always clean up after me and keep things in order. In my experience, a tidy environment is important for both mental health and productivity. 

Diligent 
If something is to be done properly, then you have to work hard for it. I work diligently to ensure that the result is something that I can stand for. 

Creative 
Creating new things, or solving problems, is something that motivates me every day. I struggle to leave an idea on the shelf or walking away from an unsolved riddle. 

Caring 
I love making people smile and laugh. I get along well with new people and do what I can to be a good fellow human being for those around me.
